Orchard Lodge and Boldings Lodge
Orchard Lodge provides two purpose-built bungalows just outside Horsham, West Sussex, providing care for adults with learning and physical disabilities. The home is a specialist care home with nursing, featuring technological facilities and a safe, comfortable and homely environment for all the people we support.
Our aim is to provide a care home that offers a safe, comfortable environment with support and stimulation to help people maximise their potential physical, intellectual, emotional and social capacity within an individual person-centred plan. The people we support have the right to live as normal a life as possible and to have the respect of those who support them.
The friendly and homely atmosphere we have created at both homes ensures that individuals are able to continue their lifestyle with personal privacy and dignity. The peace and tranquillity of our lovely home and gardens is enjoyed by the people we support, and they are confident in the high standard of care provided.
Orchard Lodge has the benefit of an Activities Co-ordinator who devises and carries out personalised activity plans alongside the individual’s key workers.
Some of the many activities include alternative complementary therapies, dance and movement, music, arts and crafts, cooking, hydrotherapy and swimming. We benefit from the use of our own specially adapted minibus, enabling the people we support to go shopping, attend local clubs and further education, and enjoy outings and sporting activities.
Every effort is made to enable people to keep in touch with relatives and friends. Advocacy and volunteer befriending schemes are encouraged. The home works closely with outreach services to provide leisure and activity programmes.
Throughout the year, the people at Boldings Lodge and Orchard Lodge enjoy trips to the seaside resorts of Brighton and Worthing, which are only 30 minutes away, bowling in Crawley, cinema evenings and many opportunities to visit local parks, clubs and shopping centres.
All staff undertake an induction programme when joining SHC. In addition, a system of supervision and support for care staff enables them to gain experience and increase their skills. Extensive in-house training is provided by the SHC Training Academy, and QCF courses are undertaken in conjunction with the local colleges.
